Zane Lybrand, Ph.D.
Hi I’m Zane. I received my PhD in Biology from Texas A&M University in 2012 studying neural regeneration in annelid worms and completed my postdoc at UT Southwestern Medical Center in 2018 in the Department of Molecular Biology. Outside of the lab, I enjoy spending time with my family and playing jazz guitar.
Myles graduated from Oklahoma Wesleyan University in May of 2020, with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. While at OKWU he was a four-year member of the cross country and track team. He joined Texas Woman’s University in Aug of 2020 as a Professional Master of Science Student in biotechnology and will complete that program in August of 2021. Upon completion he will be a PhD student in the lab studying Traumatic brain injury and regenerative medicine. Outside of school he enjoys spending time traveling, camping, hiking, running, climbing, and watched a good tv show or movie.
Hi I am Tho, currently I am a Master's student in Biology. Besides taking courses as a graduate student, I also work as a Graduate Assistant, which my main job is to prep lab and make sure the class is running smoothly for students. I always dreamed myself to become a teacher since I was six years old, and now I couldn’t be happier to make it halfway comes true! Coming to TWU has given me a lot of opportunities to learn, to grow, especially to have the chance to work in Dr. Lybrand’s lab, where I can fulfill my passion to study about human brain! In my free time, I love exploring community parks, museums, or just simply a peaceful moment with books and my beloved ones.

Nohemi Romo Mercado
Hi, I’m Nohemi Romo Mercado and I am an undergraduate student pursuing a B.S. in Biology (Pre-Med track) with a minor in Chemistry at Texas Woman’s University. I work as an undergraduate remotely and in person for the Lybrand lab. I plan to go to medical school to become a geriatric physician and do research on neurodegenerative diseases that affect geriatric patients. In my free time I like to draw, paint, and sew clothes.
Bio coming soon
I'm Nik and I am an undergraduate student pursuing a B.S. in Biology with a Neurobiology concentration at UTSA. Outside of school, I work as an undergraduate research assistant in Hsieh Lab (and assist remotely for the Lybrand Lab), and as a software developer for the tech start-up Deltable, where we specialize in business workflow optimization and automation. In the future, I intend to combine my experience in research and tech with my neurobiology education in order to research and develop cutting-edge technologies, and deepen our understanding of the brain in the process.
